Our compactor hire is suitable for large sites dealing with higher volumes of rubbish. A compactor can be used in place of wheelie bins and may take up less space. It reduces vehicle movements and lowers cost of transport as we visit less often, so you make a direct saving on your costs.
There are two types of compactors - static compactors and mobile compactors. Discuss the best option for your needs (these are usually based on frequency, contents, space on site and location).
Mobile Compactors are suitable for businesses because they are clean, air and water tight. The container can take food, general waste and green waste, recycling, cardboard and plastics either separated or mixed.
Odour levels are lower as they are airtight so may be suitable for food waste on sites where odour control is important. It also reduces pest issues on sites where hygiene is important.
Static Waste Compactors are a stationary machine that compresses waste into a separate portable container. Static compactors can cope with large volumes of bulky rubbish including General Waste, packaging, plastics and cardboard.
When the compactor is full, Wilrose exchange it for an empty one or tip and return it depending on the space on the site. Compactors are regularly used on school sites, industrial sites, manufacturing sites and large retail areas.
The compactor is purchased either outright or lease hired from us. You receive a full maintenance programme if required and you then pay each time we exchange or empty it.

Compactors and Rollonoff
Depending on the type of waste our compactors can hold anywhere between 4 – 15 tonnes of waste. Waste volumes vary depending on the density and type of material being compacted.
To give an idea on volumes, a single compactor would replace:
- Ten 1100L wheelie bins or
- Two General Waste Front End Loader (FEL) skips or
- One General Waste Rear End Loader (FEL) skip
Compactors apply force to the waste to ensure it is fully compacted. Compactors can reduce material volumes by up to five times, depending on the material. In addition to this, Compactors keep your site tidy and eliminates mess and leakage.
To fill a compactor, you would either feed the machine by handballing sacks (throwing); bin tipping (with a bin lift) or by tipping a skip into the hopper. The static compactor is more varied in the loading options, and can be loaded from different sides, with various sized and shaped hoppers.
