Slough was first recorded in 1195 as Slo and was a small hamlet between Upton and Chalvey. Henry III had a palace at Cippenham and some parts of Upton Court were built in 1325. During the 17th century, Slough became an important resting place on the road into London from the West and the population grew rapidly after the opening of a railway line running between Slough to Windsor for Queen Victoria’s convenience.
Nowadays, Slough houses a number of large businesses and business parks, as well as medical laboratories and biotech firms with many of these located along Bath Road. There are also several shops, superstores, department stores and car showrooms on Bath Road, including furniture stores and clothes shops.
There are multiple pubs, restaurants, takeaways, cafes, fast food establishments and bars throughout Slough, as well as nail salons, hairdressers and dentists. In addition, there are many schools, colleges, hotels and gyms as well museums, post offices and supermarkets. Wilrose can support all these businesses with their waste management. Reducing waste output, increasing recycling and configuring a suitable service.
